Abstract:
A nested multi-level fine mesh numerical forecasting model for typhoon track is developed in this paper. The forecast district of the coarse mesh segment covers low latitude regions in both hemisphere. One-way interaction is adopted for matching fine mesh system with coarse mesh system. The initial typhoon circulation is a bogus pattern determined by the central surface pressure and the maximum wind speed of the typhoon being predicted. The results of real-time forecasting experiments during typhoon season in 1984 are encouraging.
