A PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOME EL NINO PHENOMENA AND THE ELEMENTS OF SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE AND TOTAL CLOUDINESS OVER THE NORTH PACIFIC

摘要: 本文应用经验正交函数的方法展开北太平洋海温场和西太平洋云量场,分析厄尼诺年尤其是1982-1983年厄尼诺年的特点。同时,结合北太平洋信风、南方涛动、南极海冰等对厄尼诺年作了一些初步的探讨。

Abstract: In this article, the monthly fields of sea surface temperature and total cloudiness over the North pacific are resolved into some empirical orthogonal polynomials. The relationship between these elements and some El Niño phenomena, particularly the El Nino in 1982-1983, has been emphasized. In addition,other elements, such as trade wind over the North pacific, Southern Oscillation Index and Antarctic sea ice, etc., are also mentioned.
