Abstract:
Some primary results are found as follows by analysing Typhoon Herbert structure :1. The horizontal distribution of elements is dissemmetric about the cyclone. The temperature and humidity centers locate at the levels of 300-200 hPa and 700 hPa, respectively. The vertical motion reaches its maximum as it develops rapidly. 2. There is a wide NE wind region in the upper troposphere and SW wind area in the lower part. Vertical wind shear at U
200-850hPa of the cyclone has an area of zero shear close to its center in the developing phase. 3. We think that both the vertical shear of divergence and vorticity have a close relationship with the development of the typhoon over the South China Sea. 4. The latent heat by cumulus convection is the most important source during the development of the eye-lone.
