Abstract:
The relationship of air temperature in South China to ENSO is investigated using composite statistics and spectral method. The former analysis shows that the temperature is anomalously colder in the winter just prior to, and spring and "early flood season" within an EINino year; it is warmer, on the other hand, in the winter of, and spring and the season just following an EINino year; it undertakes reverse variation in the winter, spring and the flood season of an anti-EINino year. The latter method reveals a close association of ENSO with a 2-3 year oscillation for monthly mean temperature in Guangzhou.
