Abstract: A p—σ incorporated coordinate 8-layer primitive equations model is adopted to investigate correlation factors of background flow field of summer and winter monsoons and the cross-eqatorial current.Results show that the background flow field of summer and winter monsoons and the cross-equatorial current are significantly correlated with the climatic position of the frontal zone; the joint effect of the westerly jet and the forcing of large scale topography.
