Abstract:
In this paper, annual and seasonal features of the distribution of SST signal areas and air-sea energy transport are studied and general ways discussed in which air-sea interaction takes place in the tropical Indian Ocean. Three SST signal areas are identified and separate maximum zonal areas for the transport of energy between the air and sea are located near 20°S and 10°N (in the Arabian Sea), showing significant seasonal variations. In the area of the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and eastern equatorial Indian Ocean are two key areas, for they not only depict the basic characteristics of the conditions of maritime heat of the ocean, but act as key regions where the air-sea interaction takes place.
