Abstract: This paper summaries the basic theory and character of self-organized criticality. By analysizing the relationship between the frequency of tropical cyclone and its central air pressure as well as maximal wind speed, and the relationship between extratropical cyclone frequency and its depthness respectively. we find out they follow the power law. Our finding provides observational evidences in the application of the theory of self organized criticality to atmospheric science.
