Abstract: An investigation of the multiscale relationship of temperature anomaly in Guangzhou to EI Nino is conducted through the agency of Wavelet transforming of the time series of Nino 3 and Nino 1+2 SSTAs and Guangzhou temperature anomaly, respectively. It is show that they all experience strong interdecadal oscillation. On the basis of interannual scale the temperature anomaly in Guangzhou is in positive relation to the EI Nino SSTAs as composed to the negative relation between them if based on interdecadal scale. In view of the fact that the rhythm of robust E1 Nino events is responsible for the interdecadal variability of SSTA, the response of temperature in Guangzhou to the violent E1 Nino events is thus different in character from the counterpart to the normal ones.
