Abstract:
Objectively analyzed data from ECMWF are used to determine mean geopotential heights (H) at 850 and 200 hPa and harmonics of the westerly component (u) as well as the temporal and spacial distribution of the quasi-40 days oscillation energy. The result shows a significant in-terannual difference in the spacial distribution of quasi-40 days oscillation for a particular element, which cannot be simply attributed to external forcing. Further analyses are needed of the climatological aspect of the quasi-40 days oscillation.
