Abstract: Based on ECMWF objective analysis data, by using Batterworth bandpass-filtered skill and diagnostic analysis method,the interaction characteristics of low frequency wave and mean flow in mid-latitude during the winter years 1983/1984 and 1986/1987 have been studied in this paper. The main results point out the important role of the tropical convective activity on the above mentioned interaction process.
