Abstract:
In this paper,the atmospheric vertical circulation and its temporal-spatial distributions in and around eastern China during the Meiyu period July 1991,are analysed. By use of the statistical characteristics of vertical velocity distribution with bands of Persistent heavy rainfall,the mechanism and causes by which the rain bands fluctuate are easily understanded,and then a conceptual mode of the development of meridional vertical circulation is established. Furthermore,by use of the featureS of physiCal quantity in the Meiyu frontal zone,24-hour predictions of rainstorm band movement and precipitational intensity are made.
