Abstract: Using some conventional data including sea-ship observation and tropical cyclone reports of 16 tropical cyclones during 1996—1997, a primary method for locating near gale and storm regions in tropical cyclones over the ocean is presented with 6 kinds of GMS T_BB conceptual models, which are based on the statistics and composite analysis of relationship between GMS T_BB fields of tropical cyclones and cyclone data.
